The tour officially begins on 23 March 2026.

This unique experience invites visitors to step into the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, a story deeply connected to Llandudno, where author Lewis Carroll frequently stayed and found inspiration.

Passengers will be taken on a scenic open-top journey through Llandudno’s most picturesque locations, while enjoying an immersive narrative experience that blends storytelling, history, and imagination. Through engaging commentary and themed storytelling, guests will discover the fascinating links between the town and the world-famous tale, including connections to the real-life Alice, Alice Liddell, who spent holidays in Llandudno during the 19th century.

Designed to appeal to families, day-trippers, and literary enthusiasts alike, the tour offers a unique way to explore Llandudno—combining live storytelling, local heritage, and breathtaking coastal views into one unforgettable journey.

What is Changing Lives?

Changing Lives is the first project to be coordinated by all City Sightseeing operations worldwide through City Sightseeing Cares, the new social action arm of the global brand. Changing Lives will focus on providing drinkable water to 12 communities in the Upper Amazon in Peru in 2024. The project will provide more than 2,000 people with access to water that is safe for human consumption.

Meet Our Youngest Alpine Driver

We are delighted to announce that Faye Reynolds, 19, from Bethesda, has passed her Cat D driving test and now joins the Alpine driving team, becoming the youngest driver at Alpine.

She began working for Alpine in April 2022 as part of the sales team for City Sightseeing. Progressing to become a feeder driver after passing her car driving test, she supported the feeder driving team in the 8-seater minibuses for Jones Holidays. On the 27th of February 2024, Faye successfully passed her Category D Driving test.

"We are delighted to see the progress that Faye has made over the last couple of years and are excited to see where her career at Alpine takes her. We congratulate her on what has been a fantastic achievement."

The first step is a thorough cleaning, inside and out. This involves washing the exterior, sprucing up the interior, and sanitising all surfaces.

Our Open Top buses are then treated to a fresh new look. Our dedicated team has been hard at work, meticulously spraying and painting each bus to ensure they look their absolute best. We believe that presenting all our City Sightseeing buses to a high standard is just as crucial as showcasing the stunning scenery of Llandudno and Conwy.

It's not just about the aesthetics, though – we take safety seriously too. Our Open Top buses undergo a thorough inspection, with any repairs or replacements made quickly and efficiently.

We take pride in our Open Top City Sightseeing buses and want our passengers to feel comfortable and safe during their journey, as they explore Llandudno, Conwy, and Rhos-on-Sea, not forgetting of course the Great Orme Explorer, which ventures throughout the season to the summit of the Great Orme.

For those unfamiliar with the Blue Badge certification, it is a highly respected accreditation that requires months of intensive study, rigorous assessments and practical experience before being awarded. This level of accreditation enables guides to take visitors around entire countries, like Wales, and provide them with a wealth of knowledge and insight about every aspect of the area they are visiting.

At Alpine Travel, we believe that becoming a Blue Badge Guide is a great way for people to turn their passion for tourism into a lifelong career. Exciting News from Alpine Travel: Emily Williams Earns D1 Licence in Less Than a Year!

Emily Williams, a 35-year-old driver based in North Wales, has achieved a major milestone in her career at Alpine Travel. In just under 12 months, she has successfully passed the D1 Licence test with flying colours.

Starting out as a feeder driver in 2022, Emily offered door-to-door pick-up services for passengers on Alpine's Jones Holidays products. She not only provided exceptional care and attention to her passengers but also had the ambition to learn how to drive larger vehicles in the Alpine fleet.

Now, with her newly acquired D1 Licence, Emily can drive midi coaches with up to 16 seats. This opens a world of opportunities for her, including driving not just feeder vehicles but also private groups and customers who hire larger vehicles from Alpine Travel.

Jon Hughes, the Traffic Manager at Alpine, expressed his delight for Emily's achievement and emphasised her professionalism and skill in the short time she has been with the company. We recently attended the Denbighshire Job Fair, which took place at the 1891 Bar & Restaurant in Rhyl on 27 September 2023. The purpose of this fair was to highlight a wide range of job opportunities available at Alpine for the local community.

At our stand, Ebonie Booth, HR Manager at Alpine Travel represented the team and shared that the event was a success. Ebonie commented "We had a great turnout, with enthusiastic visitors eager to learn about becoming a driver and exploring other opportunities we offer here at Alpine."

Alpine Travel is celebrating as more members of its driving team achieve GreenRoad Fleet Elite status.

The Green Road advanced safety & telematics system continuously checks driving manoeuvres & helps improve fuel efficiency, and Alpine Travel’s drivers are leadingthe way in performance measurement.

Fleet Elite status is awarded to drivers when their driving safety, as reflected in GreenRoad’s objective driver Risk Scores, are exceptional for an entire year. The focus of the GreenRoad Driver Behaviour system is to achieve strong driver engagement and a personal desire to improve driving safety, supported by effective in-cab coaching and incentive schemes. To this end, the system provides real-time feedback to the driver, enabling self-correction in real-time to prevent incidents. In addition, the system calculates a cumulative Safety Score for each driver that becomes the basis for friendly competitions and bonuses.

The UK’s most thanked workers

Bus and coach drivers, at companies such as Alpine Travel in North Wales, have been revealed as the UK’s most thanked workers, receiving a thank you on average 37 times a day – five times greater than the national average. According to statistics 84% of passengers in Wales thanked their drivers.

As many as four in 10 bus and coach drivers get thanked over 50 times a day; dwarfing other sectors like healthcare and retail where just 1% and 3% of workers are thanked 50 times a day respectively.

The research of 2,000 passengers and 1,158 bus and coach drivers also found four fifths of Brits thank their driver, with nine in ten drivers saying a thank you positively affects their wellbeing.

The research commissioned by the Confederation of Passenger Transport as part of their Thank You Driver campaign, aims to encourage more people to become a bus or coach driver.

CPT members Alpine Travel’s Chris Owens said: “Here at Alpine, our drivers pride themselves on keeping local communities connected and thrive on getting people to where they want to go. Being thanked plays a huge part in their role, and it is great to see such high levels of thanks for bus and coach drivers.”

Being appreciated was listed as one of the best things about being a bus or coach driver with over half saying they felt their work was rewarding – according to the research the role offers seven of the top ten things that UK workers value most.

These include meeting lots of different people; working without supervision; working solo; serving the community; being thanked and appreciated; good work life balance; and training opportunities.

Graham Vidler, Chief Executive of the Confederation of Passenger Transport said: “It is never too late for those feeling unappreciated in their current profession to make the switch to become one of the UK’s most thanked workers. Especially given most bus and coach operators joined after working other jobs and most of the UK population possess a driving licence which will enable them to start training right away.”
